Newsflash
| On March 6, 2006, Will Clay, a 1995 BSL graduate, was administered the oath of office of Circuit Judge of Etowah County, Alabama. Will had previously practiced law and served as Municipal Judge for Mountainboro, as well as a Etowah County Commissioner. It was a proud occasion for Will and his family, but also for the BSL family. Will made the third currently serving Etowah County Circuit Judge to be a graduate of BSL. Other BSL graduates serving in that capacity are Presiding Judge Allen Millican, a 1983 BSL graduate, and Judge Shaun Malone, a 1995 BSL graduate. |

Register at the new Birmingham School of Law Student & Alumni website at bsl.nbirmingham.net. The site is not managed or owned by BSL but it’s free and has a world of benefits. Not the least of which is graduating students, alumni and faculty members can list their practices and events. That’s free advertising! Also, there is a Facebook like social networking feature so that we can all keep in touch and network. “Facebook like” is used in a broad sense. The site currently uses Community Builder which lacks many of the features we would like, but you can make connections to other users. In the near feature we hope to install a commercial software application that will give the site almost identical capabilities as Facebook. You can vote in polls like, “who is the toughest professor,” “who is the best professor.” (Suggest other polls. We thought “what elective classes would like to see offered,” might be a good one.) Students can submit articles, events, website links, etc. If you would like to submit any material contact the administrator by clicking the contacts menu options under the main menu. You must be registered and logged in to see the contacts link. Just give us your name contact info and status, (1L, 2L, alumni, faculty, etc.) and we will give your author privileges. There is a link under the “Recourses” menu to a new free local online auction site, sellit.nbirmingham.net or buyit.nbirmingham.net. This would be a great place to buy or sell textbooks, (or anything else you want to sell or buy.) To register just go to the Birmingham School of Law Student & Alumni website at bsl.nbirmingham.net and click the register link at the bottom of the left column. You don’t have to use your name as your username but it would help your classmates find you to make connections. There will be much more added to the site soon; we went live before everything was completed so that the students graduating this spring could register.
