The Birmingham School of Law, (BSL) Portal is now online. Here, you will find a constant source of information about the activities of BSL, its students and alumni. Learn about BSL, network, and keep in touch with classmates, faculty and friends. We are using Joomla CMS for the site. Because of this you may see articles about Joomla. We will leave these published for a time so that our readers can find out about Joomla and better understand how the site works. This site is not owned or operated by the Birmingham School of Law.

Social Networking

This site uses Community Builder for social networking for its users. This is a good program that allows user to upload a profile and have other user connect to them. Nevertheless, Commuinity Builder has its limitations and we would like to install some more software so that the site would be more like Facebook. We are asking everyone to donate a few dollars for this purpose. If everyone gave a couple of dollars we would have enough. Of course everyone will not donate so please be generous. From time to time we will post articles on how to use Community Builder. For now, if you have questions you can't figure out contact the administrator.

Register at the new Birmingham School of Law Student & Alumni website at bsl.nbirmingham.net. The site is not managed or owned by BSL but it’s free and has a world of benefits. Not the least of which is graduating students, alumni and faculty members can list their practices and events. That’s free advertising! Also, there is a Facebook like social networking feature so that we can all keep in touch and network. “Facebook like” is used in a broad sense. The site currently uses Community Builder which lacks many of the features we would like, but you can make connections to other users. In the near feature we hope to install a commercial software application that will give the site almost identical capabilities as Facebook.

The BSL Student and Alumni Website Core Team and Working Group members are volunteer developers, designers, administrators and managers who have worked together to make the new site possible. Students and Alumni are encouraged to help by registering and submitting articles and announcements. If you would like to do more, contact the site administrator.
